THANKSGIVING CHALLENGE!!!

“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” - G.K. Chesterton

For each of the next seven days - starting tomorrow - 11/20/2008, and ending with Thanksgiving day, 11/27/2008. I challenge each of my friends to make a list of at least TEN things for which you are grateful.

The rules are simple:
  1. Write them in the present tense
  2. Positive (e.g. your list should say “I’m grateful for my snug & cozy home” Not “I’m grateful I’m not homeless” )
  3. Include feelings and sensations whenever possible. (such as “snug & cozy” above)
  4. Try not to repeat items word for word, if you’re grateful for friends one day, at least change the feelings or description. (e.g. one day “I’m grateful for my kind friends”, another day might be “I’m grateful for friends who truly hear me”)

On the USA's Thanksgiving Day you should have a list of at least SEVENTY things you are grateful for!

The idea is to share these gratitude lists with loved ones and those who are mentioned. If you are especially brave, you could post these lists as notes or blog entries each of the next 7 days! (That's what I plan to do.)

Add a comment here if you're willing to accept the challenge! I look forward to seeing how many people respond.

Dorkface and the Spazzz

I have to admit that I don't really get why bloggers use aliases for people they mention on a regular basis. Of course, I'm not trying to promote my blog or get anyone who doesn't know me to read it.... so perhaps that's part of why I've never seen the point.

The title mentions "Dorkface" (Right) and "the Spazzz" (Left) because I have these two coworkers, you see, who are completely crazy & fun.

I wouldn't enjoy my job nearly as much as I do if I didn't get a kick out of the antics of these two raging extroverts. And frankly, I wouldn't be so exhausted at the end of the day, either.

Dorkface (a name he requested) talks with "quote fingers" and does hilarious dance moves.

The Spazzz (which I have called a "spazz" on more than one occasion. Because she is one, in a totally good way.) I don't think I know very many people with THAT much energy. Seriously.

What I love the most about them: they are always willing to laugh, and they never take themselves (or anyone else) too seriously.

Since I tend to take everything a tad to seriously anyway, I find it best to surround myself with people like these two, and Brett (aka WonderMuffin) and the Ethanator.

Calling for: Green Fabric?!?!

Got any old green shirts, skirts, or table cloths lying around? Ready to freecycle or recycle or reuse or just get rid of it?

Well, send it on down to Georgia!

That's right folks, accepting your green fabric castoffs for a limited time only.

You see, I've decided to make a rag rug for my living room, and i've decided it needs to be in shades of green. (Predominantly green, but I'm also planning to mix in beige, brown, with tidbits of burgundy and navy, to be absolutely precise).

I've decided this because:
  1. They don't make rugs that are big enough for this space AND machine-washable.
  2. They don't make rugs in exactly the color scheme that this room has taken on for itself.
  3. Well, because I want to make it! Darn it!

So, if you have any scraps of green fabric that need to live on in another life, and would look good on hardwoods.... send 'em my way!

Please?

Keep yer eye on the Widget!

Just under my photo in the left-hand sidebar, there is a NaNoWriMo widget. This widget updates relatively quickly after I log my words on the website.

So, watch the widget, people! This will let you know just how far I am!

Oh, and currently Atlanta is #23 in the regional scoreboard. Man! We've just gotta beat Finland.......
