The photo above of Matt & Dustin was the color shot used in last Sunday's AJC article about my neighborhood. It's funny to see a site where you've been tipsy to the point of teetering in such a homey little shot. Matt and Dustin's is the site of the every weekend Open Grill Night y'all have heard tell about - a summer series of parties that I wouldn't attend so regularly if it weren't for the fact that the walk home is less than 30 seconds. (You can actually see my house in this picture. If you know what you're looking for... and you squint a little...)
When you're from a small town, seeing your picture in the local paper is a regular occurrence. School plays, the county fair, any little thing that can be percieved as "news" gets slapped on the front page with a shot of some cute kid grinning ear to ear. My horse was in the paper the day she was born. I was in the paper at least three times that I can remember off the top of my head.....
In a town as huge as Atlanta, and a paper as thick as the AJC, it's incredibly weird to see a write-up in the paper about my own neighborhood. Let alone flashing a shot of people I know, and a house I frequent!
Then, that it was saying my little 'hood is the next "hot spot" in town for folks to buy real estate, well.... it made me feel just giddy.
